At OCLI, we serve patients at a wide variety of ages—from those just starting out in life to people in their golden years. So we thought we’d put together some of our favorite blogs for each age group. After all, our goal has always been to help people live better, more fulfilling lives, and these blogs are an extension of that mission. So check out these blogs for baby boomers and you’re sure to find something you like.
A Boomer’s Life After 50
This blog aimed at boomer women is an excellent resource that touches on travel, health and wellness, beauty, and so much more. Judy Freedman started A Boomer’s Life After 50 about 10 years ago when she was approaching 50, and it’s all about aging gracefully, staying optimistic, and enjoying this time of life. Widowed and an empty nester at 50, Judy went through a life-changing period that informs her writing and outlook on life, and her blog is consistently recognized as one of the best for women over 50.
Life Part 2
In 2011, Jonathan Look sold everything he owned, took early retirement, and began travelling the world. He knew he wanted more than the typical American life that revolved around accumulating “stuff,” and so he began his journey out into the world – and started documenting it. The blog itself is full of useful advice on retirement, travel, and everything related to experiencing life in a similar manner. Look spends roughly a year at a time in different countries, so you get an in-depth idea of what they’re like, rather than a blog based on two quick weeks abroad. It’ll really get you thinking about all the possibilities that are open to you…
Boomeresque
Written by a semi-retired lawyer named Suzanne Fluhr, Boomeresque follows her travels and adventures with her husband, “Mr. Excitement.” After giving up lawyering full-time (though not completely) Fluhr decided to follow her wanderlust and use her newfound free time to explore and write about the experiences. This is another excellent blog for boomers that explores some of the travelling opportunities available as we age, but it also touches on news, spirituality, lifestyle, and tech.
Going Like Sixty
Considering living abroad in retirement, but maybe aren’t willing to go all out in quite the same way as Jonathan Look? Then you should definitely check out Going Like Sixty for some musings on life abroad in Costa Rica, dogs, holistic home remedies, and just about anything else that amuses the man behind the blog. It’s funny and insightful, and you’ll certainly find something you can relate to while reading through the entries.
Many baby boomers are already retired, and so many more are on the cusp. If you’re looking at these blogs and planning some major life changes, then why not add LASIK to that list? It’s the perfect way to kick off retirement and your plans—no more reliance on glasses or contacts! So give us a call today and let’s get started reviewing your options for laser eye surgery.
