There’s no doubt that autumn is upon us. The air is cooler, farmers have started harvesting, and the coffee shops are selling everyone’s favorite fall-themed drinks. New Jersey Lighthouses
There are 11 major lighthouses in the state of New Jersey. The top of a lighthouse offers a great vantage point for viewing all the splendor fall has to offer. Check out Navesink Twin Lights in Monmouth County, Barnegat Lighthouse in Ocean County, Finns Point Rear Range in Salem County, and Cape May Lighthouse in Cape May County.
High Point State Park
Anyone into hiking and biking must check out High Point State Park. It boasts the highest elevation in New Jersey at 1,803 feet and on a clear day there are 80 miles of beautiful fall colors to view. Make it a mini-vacation and take in the nearby High Point Country Inn in Wantage. With seven acres of grounds, there’s plenty to see there as well.
Delaware Water Gap
The Kittatinny Ridge part of the Delaware Water Gap in Sussex consists of miles of amazing scenery and rolling hills as well as Kittatinny Lake. The Delaware Water Gap is a national recreation area consisting of 70,000 acres in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Late September and early October is the most colorful time for The Delaware Water Gap.
Woodlands Tour
The Woodlands Tour is a fun excursion to take in mid to late October. You can start the tour in Riverdale and finish at Echo Lake. On the tour, you will see amazing points of interest like Ringwood State Park, the New Jersey Botanical Gardens, Greenwood Lake, the Wanaque Wildlife Management Area, and Abram S. Hewitt State Forest. The tour includes plenty of opportunities for hiking, bird watching, and taking in fall in all its glory.
