We’re in the midst of a beautiful fall season, and there’s still plenty of time to get outside and enjoy it before winter comes around the corner. There are so many different festivals and fairs this time of year, all taking advantage of the cool weather and beautiful scenery. New Jersey definitely has its share of fantastic festivals to offer this time of year, so we thought we’d bring you some of our favorites.
Harvest Homecoming at New Bridge- October 30th
Historic New Bridge Landing will be opening up all of its historic buildings for tours. There will be an open hearth cooking demonstration at the 18th Century Dutch Out Kitchen, and Historian Kevin Wright will be giving an illustrated talk.
Somerville Spooktacular- October 31st
Downtown Somerville will be transforming into a family-friendly festival, with plenty of spooky fun and excitement for everyone. The Spooktacular features a scavenger hunt, a dance party, a pumpkin carving demonstration, and plenty more for the whole family.
Family Fun Day Featuring Mark Teixeira- Nov. 5th
The Stonecrest Community Church is putting on this fantastic gathering, and it will include an obstacle course, a raffle, and plenty of food. Oh, and the New York Yankees’ Mark Teixeira will be on hand. Winners of a forty-yard dash, fastest throw, and fastest swing will all win autographed baseballs from Mr. Teixeira. So bring the whole family and find out who the best ball player really is.
Winter Wonderland- Nov. 25th
Christmas spirit begins once Thanksgiving is over, so come on down to Rahway and enjoy the third annual Winter Wonderland festival. There will be plenty of food and drink, ice-skating, music, bonfires, and a lot more fun for the whole family. Just make sure you’re there in time for the parade and annual tree lighting at 6 p.m.
Holiday Extravaganza- Nov 25-26th
Sea Isle City is holding its Holiday Extravaganza in Excursion Park, right next to the water! Come see the parade that brings Santa to town, or head to the ice rink and strap on some skates. And don’t forget that Saturday is Small Business Day, so you can also take some time to check out the local businesses in town.
11th Annual Hometown Holiday- Dec. 2nd
Hackettstown traditionally holds the Hometown Holiday on the first Friday in December, so mark your calendars for a night of live musical entertainment, late-night shopping, and great food, as well as a parade that culminates in the lighting of the town’s Christmas tree.
Celebrating the end of fall and the beginning of the holiday spirit can be a wonderful time for you and your loved ones.
