Welcome, Fadi El Baba, MD to the OCLI team of doctors. Dr. El Baba is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of Retinal disorders. He will see patients exclusively in OCLI’s East Setauket location beginning September 9th, 2019.
Dr. El Baba joins OCLI after his impressive career which spans over 20 years in various leading medical facilities and universities. He received his medical degree from the American University in Beirut, Lebanon, and remained with the same institution through his residency. Dr. El Baba then was awarded a fellowship at the Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. He then continued an additional internship and fellowship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland Oregon, and a final residency with the Doheny Eye Institute in Los Angeles, California. Dr. El Baba is a member of the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, Long Island Ophthalmology Society, Suffolk County Ophthalmology Society, Ophthalmology Alumni Association – American University of Beirut, Wilmer Residents Association, Doheny Eye Institute – Alumni Association, Fellow – American Academy of Ophthalmology, and Vitreous Society/ASRS.
In addition to his professional appointments and associations, Dr. El Baba has served the community not only as the Chief of Ophthalmology, Surgical Service for the VA Hospital in Northport, NY but also as a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology and Vice-Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology at SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island, NY. Dr. El Baba has also been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor from 2006-2008, 2010-2019 and has received the Visionary Award from the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
